Concert

I was so very impressed with the high level of musicianship and the great behavior at Tuesday's concert. Congratulations on a great concert!

Our next concert is Wednesday, Feb. 2nd at AHS. The only extended rehearsal between now and then that could take place potentially is Tuesday, January 11th. If 8th period is not included in the early dismissal schedule that day, we will have a rehearsal from 1-1:20 after early dismissal. If 8th period is included in the regular day, then we will not have an extended rehearsal.

December 2nd and December 9th

There will be extended rehearsal on conference days (early release days) Dec. 2nd and Dec. 9th to prepare for our winter concert with our accompanist. The rehearsals will take place immediately after school and will last for 45 minutes.

Call backs pre-audition Junior Districts

There will be a brief callback audition for Junior districts (pre-audition) in rm. 103 today from 2:25-2:45. Students who should attend have been notified.

January 11th

Please add the following rehearsal to the schedule for the year:

Tuesday, January 11th rehearsal from 12:30-1:00pm. This is an early release day and while we were included last year, this year's schedule eliminates chorus on early release days. Please plan accordingly. I will also send home a paper reminder.

Early Dismissal on Tuesday

As of right now, period 8 was eliminated on Tuesdays schedule 10/5/10.

I would like to have a chorus rehearsal on that day from 12:30-12:45 as my meetings do not start until 1:00. Thank you!

Interested in auditioning for Northeast Junior Districts?

Junior Districts is a very prestigious and honorable festival that takes place March 16, 18, and 19. Students must audition on Sat. January 22nd in order to be considered. We provide transportation to the audition in January. If you are an interested male, please see Mr. Condakes as soon as possible. If you are an interested female, Mrs. Gaffny will have pre-auditions on Thursday, October 14th from 2:25-2:45 in rm. 103. Please be prepared to sing a selection from chorus for your audition.

Welcome Back!

A big welcome back to the new 7th and 8th grade Chorus! We have a lot planned this year.

Please get your contracts back to Mrs. Gaffny asap.

We are NOT going to MICCA this year as I will be on maternity leave from March 1st-May 18th.

Bridge the Gap

Did we really just do that?

I am SO impressed with the dedication you showed to the chorus by singing in tonight's event. We have never sung more than 5 songs at one concert, and tonight, you sung 11! With gusto!

Congratulations!

The 7th and 8th grade Chorus participated in the MICCA festival on Saturday, April 10th. After singing "Simple Gifts" by Aaron Copland, "Hotaru Koi" by Ro Ogura, and "Bought Me a Cat" by Linda Spevacek, the chorus had a 20 minute clinic with one of the judges. Then we learned that we earned a silver (excellent) medal based on our performance! I am so proud of the group and all they represented during this festival. They were very well behaved and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. Congratulations!

MICCA permission slips due

Permission slips are due next week. Please let me know if your parent would like to chaperone. As a reminder, MICCA is Saturday, April 10th. We'll leave OMS at 8:30 am and return at 1:45pm.

All-Town Chorus Concert

Our concert is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 3rd. We will meet in rm. 324 at AHS at 6:30pm. Concert attire is black and white with a splash of red.

Junior District Rehearsals

Junior District Rehearsal Drop-ins are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:25-2:45 in rm. 103. Any parts may come anytime.

Homecoming Basketball Game

We are scheduled to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Don't Stop Believin'" at a Homecoming basketball game on Thursday, January 28th in the wood gym. All members who want to attend, please do! We will meet in the chorus room to warm-up at 3:00pm. Please wear chorus t-shirts and jeans.

MICCA

We are scheduled to perform at MICCA on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 in Norwood, MA. We are leaving the Ottoson at 8:30am and we will return approximately 1:45 pm. I am sending home a letter and permission slip today!
